Ruben Poelmans is driven by curiosity and a deep desire to understand the underlying causes of problems. With a career evolution from a detailed developer to a strategic thinker, he excels in identifying both broad solutions and intricate details when necessary.
Ruben began his career as a developer in a company that specialised in hardware and software for electronic payment and identification services. He enjoyed the challenge of translating clients' ideas into tangible products. As he mastered the coding side of his job, he sought more client interaction, eventually leading him to a role as a functional analyst and project manager at another company.
After managing several IT projects, Ruben was recruited by a service provider focusing on the manufacturing industry. His role as a consultant allowed him to become familiar with the industrial IT landscape, mastering the modelling and optimisation of industrial assets, processes and flows of information. This knowledge was crucial as he advised customers on Industry 4.0 and digital transformations as well as taught guest lectures at university colleges on these subjects, which he found very rewarding.
Later, Ruben joined a then one-man company at The Cronos Group that focused on providing strategic advice. He worked together with Coretecs on several projects and noticed a shared commitment to innovation. Faced with the option of continuing his solo career or joining Coretecs, Ruben enthusiastically chose to become part of the team. His extensive experience in digital transformation strategy and functional analysis makes him an invaluable asset for both the analysis and implementation phases of projects.
In his free time, Ruben likes to keep up with new technologies and maintain his technical skills by developing his own enterprise architecture platform. Aside from that, he’s not shy of trading in the keyboard for some more analogue tools as he's currently building a garden shed, but most of all, Ruben enjoys spending time outside with his kids. A busy bee, that's for sure!
